 WHO can run?

Candidates MUST be a full-time student currently enrolled at Ontario Tech
to be eligible to run for a position in the Ontario Tech Student Union Elections.

TERM OF OFFICE Board members are eligible to serve a maximum of two years, commencing May 1, to April 30. TIME COMMITMENT The board will typically assemble once each month for a 1-3 hour meeting. Board members must prepare for meetings ahead of time. Board members may have additional time commitments if they serve on sub-committees. JOB DESCRIPTION The Board of Directors is the governing body of the Ontario Tech Student Union. The Board of Directors is not involved in day-to-day operations. Those who sit on the board are responsible for supervising the executive and providing leadership and strategic vision for the Student Union at a high governance level. INDIVIDUAL JOB DUTIES Positions available include one Director for each Faculty and one Director for Graduate Studies. Each director will be elected to represent their faculty and act as an ambassador of the Student Union. Directors must regularly attend board meetings and other important events. Directors will be required to act honestly and represent the best interest of the Student Union while complying with all relevant laws and bylaws. COMPENSATION Directors will be provided with an honorarium for each meeting they attend.

TERM The term will be one year, commencing May 1, and expiring on April 30. TIME COMMITMENT Full-time for the duration of the term. Must be prepared to attend all board meetings. JOB DESCRIPTION The President is the public face of the Ontario Tech Student Union. The President is responsible for working with the Board of Directors to establish the strategic vision of the organization. The President supervises the Executive and the General Manager in the execution of the day-to-day operations of the Student Union. INDIVIDUAL JOB DUTIES The President will be responsible for supervising the Executive and the General Manager. The President will develop and recommend rules, regulations, and policies to be approved by the Board of Directors. The President will work with the Board to establish a strategic vision for the organization and carry out other duties as assigned by the board. COMPENSATION The President will be a full-time paid position. The President is expected to work 40 hours each week for the duration of their term.

Must be prepared to attend all board meetings. JOB DESCRIPTION The Ontario Tech Student Union VP of Student Affairs is the chief liaison between Ontario Tech students and the university administration. The VP of Students Affairs is responsible for advocating on behalf of students while sitting on Ontario Tech committees. INDIVIDUAL JOB DUTIES The VP of Student Affairs will serve as the official liaison between the Student Union and all relevant Ontario Tech organizations, offices, and departments dedicated to the awareness of indigenous education, inclusivity, equity, discrimination, and harassment. The VP of Student affairs will encourage the implementation of the initiatives, projects, and campaigns for the Student Union within Ontario Tech and carry out other duties as assigned by the President or the Board. COMPENSATION The Vice President of Student Affairs is a flexible paid position with full-time hours during the summer, and part-time hours during the fall and winter semesters. The Vice President of Student Affairs is expected to work 40 hours each week during the summer and up to 10 hours each week for the remainder of the term.

JOB DESCRIPTION The Ontario Tech Student Union VP of Student Life is required to work with the General Manager to oversee the services offered by the Student Union. The VP of Student Life is to consult with students and ensure that their needs met by the services offered by the Student Union. INDIVIDUAL JOB DUTIES The VP of Student Life will work directly with Ontario Tech Student Union staff to oversee the services offered by the Student Union. The VP of Student Life will advocate and collaborate with Ontario Tech representatives to promote and advance the services offered to students. Additionally, the VP of Student Life must review and assess the health insurance plan from year to year and carry out such other duties as may be assigned by the President or the Board. COMPENSATION The Vice President of Student Life is a flexible position with full-time hours during the summer and part-time hours during the fall and winter semesters. The Vice President of Student Life is expected to work 40 hours each week during the summer and up to 10 hours each week for the remainder of the term.

JOB DESCRIPTION The Ontario Tech Student Union VP of Downtown serves as the chief liaison between the Student Union and the student population at the Downtown Campus. INDIVIDUAL JOB DUTIES The VP of Downtown will work with their fellow Executives and the General Manager to plan events and activities at the downtown campus. The VP of Downtown will regularly hold town hall meetings and focus groups to determine the needs of the downtown student population. Additionally, the VP of Downtown will liaise with Vice President of Student Affairs and General Manager to encourage the implementation of the initiatives, projects, and campaigns of the Student Union within the downtown Campus and carry out such other duties as may be assigned by the President or the Board. COMPENSATION The Vice President of Downtown is a flexible paid position with full-time hours during the summer, and part-time hours during the fall and winter semesters. The Vice President of Downtown is expected to work 40 hours each week during the summer and up to 10 hours each week for the remainder of the term.
