Societies are faculty-based groups that are governed by students who are elected by
their peers. Societies exist to provide meaningful opportunities for the students of their faculties to
get involved, build their skillset, and network with professionals!
The Bachelor of Education Students’ Association exists to organize B.Ed students on a democratic and cooperative basis to advance students’ interests. It provides a forum within which to share skills, expertise, and ideas, and to have an impact on educational, administrative, and legislative decisions that impact students. BESA facilitates cooperation among B.Ed students through the organization of services and experiences, and the development of a sense of community. Finally, BESA provides an opportunity to get involved with partner charitable organizations, as well as the wider UOIT and Durham Region community.

GRADUATE STUDENT COUNCIL
The Graduate Student Council (GSC) is a platform where graduate students’ concerns are heard by faculty representatives. The council ensures that the university is aware of the concerns of graduate students and advocates for resolutions and changes where applicable.
HEALTH SCIENCE SOCIETY
Formerly known as UOIT’s Health Science Council, the newly run group is relaunching itself as a society to better serve and represent all students in Faculty of Health Sciences. To meet the evolving needs of our students, HealthSOC (HSS) is committed to providing unique opportunities that will give an insight of the professional world of healthcare.
Given this, HSS strives to share resources that will enhance students personally and professionally through workshops, conferences, career-panels, and many others.
A society which represents all UOIT Science undergraduate students. Providing support to help achieve academic excellence and social engagements to create networks that will last beyond the undergraduate years.

How much funding are Societies eligible for?
Instead of direct financial support from the UOIT Student Union, Societies’ funding has been redirected to provide office space for the Societies in the new Student Centre building.
What are the rules governing Society Elections?
The guidelines for campaigns can be found in the Nomination Package
What is the Presidents Council Meeting?
The Presidents Council Meeting is our way to better understand the diverse needs of the student body. This monthly meeting is comprised of the Presidents of each of the Societies and allows us to gauge the voice of the students, receive feedback and disperse valuable information.
