Period Project

Period Project

We provide free menstrual products through a network of tampon and pad dispensers in washrooms across campus and through our period bank.

Period Project

Overview

Affordable menstruation products is a basic human right, and we felt a duty to address menstrual inequity on our campus.

Combat Period Poverty

Period poverty is a reality for many Canadian students, with 1-in-3 saying they’ve struggled to afford menstrual products.

End the Stigma

Menstruation is a natural biological process experienced by half the world's population. By openly discussing periods and challenging outdated taboos, we can create a more inclusive and understanding society for everyone.

Promote Menstrual Equity

The inability to access period products affects the participation, concentration, confidence, and performance of students in the classroom, at work, and in everyday life.

Overview

Empowering students through menstrual equity.

Aunt Flow dispenser

Dispensers

The OTSU installed 14 Aunt Flow dispensers in four buildings across both campus locations. The products are 100% organic cotton and are fully biodegradable, helping to reduce our carbon and environmental footprint.

If you find a dispenser that needs refilling, please let us know.

Period Bank

The OTSU’s Period Bank is a stockpile of kits containing a selection of pads and tampons to supplement monthly needs.

We recognize that the need for menstrual products extends beyond when a student is on campus. That’s why we offer kits for students who face financial hardships or do not have access to menstrual products. Kits are available to Ontario Tech students at both our north and downtown Oshawa offices, and students may request one kit every 30 days on a first come first serve basis.

We also offer menstrual cups year-round while supplies last.
